February Member Spotlight

Your Scrappy Jo member name?
lkeener
I know what you’re thinking – it must have taken a pretty creative mind to come up with that username. I'm on a couple other sites now as Scrapvamp. Um. . that's "vamp" as in Theda Bara, not “vamp” as in Dracula.

Your first name?
Lori.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I've been married to Ken for 30 years this October and we've lived in the same ho use for 29 years. How's that for predictable? Ken is the go-to paint guy at a local hardware store, and is just all around handy at everything. Which is great because our house was built in 1909 and always needs something fixed. On the bright side, though, if you drop something you always know where to find it since none of the floors are level. Very handy when you spill an entire bottle of silver dragees whilst decorating Christmas cookies. Everyone knows our dogs: Charlie the Chihuahua who is terrified of paper and Sammy the Chihuahua who will literally climb up your leg to be held. We also have two human kids. Both of them turned out great which has a lot more to do with God’s grace than anything I can take credit for.
- so can I brag for a sec? Just a sec, I promise. Our son, Matt, is an engineer and getting his MBA
at OSU's Fisher College of Business. His wife, Bridgett is a commercial interior designer and truly the sweetest DIL ever. You all know about our daughter, Annie, and her graduation from OSU in 2008 because my first posts ever on this website were a gazillion pages from her graduation scrapbook. (Thank you for not IMing me to say "Enough already!"). Annie staye d in Columbus and is now working for an energy firm.
OK. End of Mommy Brag. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. . .

Got a blog? Or website? You want to share.
I do have a blog! But it's still a teeny tiny baby blog. It still has that one-size-fits-all look because I haven’t figured out how to do all the complicated stuff (like post for the first time). Once it looks like me minus the furballs and wrinkles, I'll post a link in my siggie. (That's techie talk for "signature." In case you're having trouble keeping up with my computer lingo.)

How did you get started in scrapbooking?
I walked the Breast Cancer 3Day in 2008 and became friends with five amazing women, one of whom suggested that we get together to make albums as a way to stay in touch. She was apparently harboring a huge scrapbook bug 'cuz it bit me good!

How long have you been scrapbooking?
2008

Whats your favorite paper line?
Ay yi yi - is there pa per out there that I DON'T like??? Seriously, I have always had a paper fetish - those crinkle-y paper bags stores used to use before the whole world went plastic, stationary, handmade wrapping paper - I love anything paper. Which is why I'll eat pb&j for a week to have extra money to buy scrapbooking paper. I guess my new favs are KI Memories and some TinkeringInk sheets I just picked up. Yummy!

What product(s) are you addicted to right now?
Oh man, this is going to sound weird. It's glues and adhesives. I'm sure this doesn't bode well for my psychological profile, but there it is. I love having the just right sticky stuff for every situation. I have a big Xyron and the little X (both with permanent and removable refills), and tons of glues, all sizes of dots, three or four different adhesives and a couple of new tapes I'm dying to try.

What inspires you creatively?
Lots of things - photos, something I've read, boredom, insomnia, OP's LOs (Other People's
Layouts), stress. Um, but mostly new paper.
What brought you to Scrappy Jo's?
I'm not sure why I ended up here, because I'd never done anything online before and one site was looking pretty much like the rest to me at that time. Maybe it was the only one I could navigate. At any rate, I'm SO happy I found it! I think it was karma.

How long have you been a member of Scrappy Jo's?
I've been a member of Scrappy Jo's since the fall of 2008. (You know - Annie's graduation scrapbook stuff.)

What do you enjoy the most about Scrappy Jo's
?
The people, the people, the people. Honestly, I'm not a strong person when it comes to being dissed online even by people I don't know, so some of those websites are just plain intimidating. They're all "Yea! We love new members!" when you post a "hi there," but just try joining a thread or asking a question. Ladies, I know this may come as a shock but not everyone out there is as nice as we are. Having said that, there really are some very friendly sites I go to, but my heart will always be with Scrappy Jo's. Sigh. It was my first online home.

What is on your scrappy wish list?
Well, first up is a die cut machine of some sort. A nice Slice or Cricut would do just fine. In an attempt to keep DH from popping a corpuscle at the expense, I'm going to start selling some of my cards and stashing that cash toward a machine. After that, a nice digital camera with no presets, big lenses and a thing which tells time.

What is something about you that we may not know?

Are you sure you don't already know more than you ever wanted??? Well, let's see. . . I need to find a scrapbooking community IRL, because I could literally spend the entire weekend in my sweats and curlers, scrapping away at the kitchen table, scaring the dogs and eating peanut butter out of a jar. Seriously - I'm talking Big Lebowski here. It ain't pretty. I used to be a voracious reader BS (Before Scrapbooking) and I've written a bunch of short stories I haven't even shown to anyone - maybe I'll do something with 'em someday. I would LOVE to learn how to blow glass. Won't fit on a scrapbook page, but it's something that’s always fascinated me. And lastly - I am REALLY ignorant about a lot of things most online scrappers already know. Mostly the acronym things. Like what in the heck is an ATC?? Can someone please explain to me what they're for because I'm totally lost!
