Sketch of the Week Sept #1

Here are are some rules for the Sketch Of The Week (SOTW) Challenges. The first four are the same rules that apply to all challenges.

How did you get started in scrapbooking? an old neighbor showed me her dd's Creative Memories baby album - it was cute and I figured I could do that - so off to Hobby Lobby I went! lol the rest is history

How long have you been scrapbooking? I started in 2000, so 9 years now - but I got HOOKED and OBSESSED when I found online forums in 2005.

Whats your favorite paper line? I love Sassafras! they're stuff is so fun - and I'm droooooooling over the new Farmers Market line by Shabby Green Door! of course we can't forget MM's yummy Chloe's Closet collection.......I could go on - I have an obsession with paper!

What product(s) are you addicted to right now? ummm...paper and pretty ribbon or lace and my embossing folders and buttons....

What inspires you creatively? my kids - kids clothes - fellow scrappers...

What brought you to Scrappy Jo's? Kimmie! she found the site through scrap calls or whatever and I follow her where ever she goes - I'm her stalker LOL

How long have you been a member of Scrappy Jo's? Since May - so 3 months...

What do you enjoy the most about Scrappy Jo's? I love that it's smaller than places like 2peas - that means no drama, no competition, no fuss - just fun and great ladies to talk to and it's sort of like Cheers - where everybody knows your name

What is on your scrappy wish list? Shabby Green Door for sure - and the new Martha punch - BG Junebug - my list never ends!

What is something about you that we may not know? well you know I pierced my nose so I guess you don't know that I have 2 tattoos and that anyone who does know me says that tattoos and piercings are out of character for me - people think I'm straight laced and very....reserved LOL (see - they don't know me!)


What is on your iPod/in your CD player right now? COUNTRY! and Thriller LOL

If granted one wish, what would you do with it? blow on something stupid - LOL it's true - I never hang onto to stuff and think it through - I "spend" it out of excitement and regret it later! lol

August CTM Designs

The sneak peaks from the previous post belonged to Renee, Me (Mary) and Karen. (In that order) This month the design team worked with the Bo Bunny Calypso Line. This paper is so Summery and fun to work with! It looks great with all kinds of photos. And best of all Scrappy Jo's has great sale on 3 different packs.

We also got to work with the very fun Core’dination cardstock. This cardstock has a white core and tears, sands and embosses like no other. So head over to the store to check it out.

Tell us a bit about yourself. I am a happily married wife of 3 years to Daniel. I am expecting our first little one in November.  I also have a dog name Chester who is 2 years old and full of energy.  For the past three years I have taught at a private school in our area, but with the baby coming, I'm not going to continue for now.

How did you get started in scrapbooking? 
I owe it all to my grandmother who wouldn't allow me not to get into something craft related.  She tortured me for years with sewing, but I just didn't like.  Then she introduced me to scrapbooking.  I loved to take pictures and why not explore a crafty side.  I became the Scrap Addict I am today.  I think I need to be in a self-help group. LOL

How long have you been scrapbooking? I've been scrapping for about 9 years, of course when I first started I had no idea what I was doing so do I really have to count that as experience?

Whats your favorite paper line? 
I don't know that I could name just one.  My favorite brand in Sassafrass, but I'm also a lover of October Afternoon and Fancy Pants.

What product(s) are you addicted to right now?
I am definitely addicted to bling, felt, flourishes, and flowers.

What inspires you creatively?
I love looking at other's layouts for inspiration.  Recently, I've found a lot of inspiration in sketches.
What brought you to Scrappy Jo's?
My friend and swapping buddy, Kelly.  She's the best!  Just like a sister to me, and of course, Mom, I mean Jo!
How long have you been a member of Scrappy Jo's? 
A little over a year.

What do you enjoy the most about Scrappy Jo's? 
I enjoy the people, atmosphere, and the love that everyone shows.

Lots of stuff... hehe... especially bling and pearls, and a binding punch.

I'm accident prone.  I've had 3 casts and 2 sets of stitches, not including the ones from my surgery.

On online crop is just that a crop held online. It is hosted by the Creative Team members and includes several activities such as: challenges, games, classes, prizes, socializing with other members and lots of fun. Most every activity can be completed using your basic supplies. In the event that particular items are required for any activity, we will post a supply list in advance so that you may be prepared. It's a great non-competitive way to get some much needed scrapping done and hopefully win some prizes at the same time!


Look for more information and details to be posted between now and the crop.

And who knows...... there just might be some good markdowns in the store for crop attendees........

Tell us a bit about yourself.
where to start... I live in minesota and have lived here most of my life
and really love it! I am a country girl at heart! I love to be out side
and since my dad has no sons I was always the tomboy with him! I am the
oldest of 6 kids on my moms side. I have my sister then 2 sisters and a
brother from my step dad and my fabulous half brother that is only 14.
I'm nearly 13 years older than him. but we all love each other and
never say step family! we are all happy to be together!(I think our
parents got lucky there) I have been dating my boyfriend valdo for 4 1/2
years! hes fabulous! we currently are living with my dad because we all
wanted to save money, then my dad had two back surgerys, and now we are
helping him out with that. I just got my little baby kona! shes 4 1/2
months old! when I was little and not outside in the woods hunting down
frogs and learning to shoot with my dad, I was in side doing crafts with
my mom! everyone in my family is crafty in some way, I think it runs in
our blood! I love being crafty, it gives me someplace to put my energy
and thoughts! somewhere to express my self and how I am feeling even if
I can't say it! I also have not many friends in real life, yet so many
friends on here. I really love how scrapbooking brings women together!
and big thanks to kelly who is my very first online friend! the first
person I met on sb.com! I also am an avid reader and love sci fi
dramatic tv! lost is my fav!!!

How did you get started in scrapbooking?
with me it has always been in my life, I didn't just make a decision one
day to scrap. I have always kept scrapbooks, journals, memory boxes! I
am a pack rat and keep everything! and I'm a very romantic sentimental
person so I have saved every little scrap of everything that valdo has
given me!

How long have you been scrapbooking?
my whole life

Whats your favorite paper line?
I really really love k n company! I love the vintage feel of it! but
then to get my bright color fix, I love bazzill bling cs and bg papers!

What product(s) are you addicted to right now?
I am really addicted to pattern paper right now. usually its cs and one
or two pieces of paper on a lo, now I'm usung more papers and layering
more. I also as always am really into my bling and flowers! but who of
us isn't right!

What inspires you creatively?
all of you rockin ladies inspire me!!! I have learned so many things
from all of you! every day I am seeing you ladies do new techniques and
giving me fresh ideas! I am also very inspired by emotion. usually the
feeling I have about that pic or moment will set the tone for that lo.
for instance my lo's with valdo, love is pink to me hence all the pink
on his lo's. too me its like every emotion has a color in my head, and
all my frienda and family have their own color in my head! Idk how to
explain it better!

What brought you to Scrappy Jo's?
my dear friend miss kelly brought me here! I'm glad she did! yes I like
and am on other sites also, but this one will be home, its got that
homey feel about it ya know!

What do you enjoy the most about Scrappy Jo's?
I enjoy how you involve all the members and give us each a chance to
shine, some places are clicky and only the whos who will be in the

JUNE GCTM CHALLENGE

This month you may alter an item, create a layout, or a card. The colors for the challenge this month are pink & black. These two colors must be readily-visible on your project. You must also use the following items:

* a tag of some sort
* a flourish of some sort

You may use anything in addition to these items, but your project must contain these items. Due by midnight, June 20th. Be creative & good luck!
